This afternoon I created a very little altered book. I altered a small address that measures 2 inches by 3 inches. I wove pages together, sewed on buttons and used sari ribbon. It was a very fun little project.
I love this project! So sweet! I have been playing with flowers a lot lately, too... I recently painted the quote " The earth laughs in flowers"-Emerson on my bathroom wall... Great job, sis!
Sheila Carpenter has been working in mixed media for the past few years. She alters books, cigar boxes and shadow boxes into pieces of art. She collects ephemera, ribbons, stamps, cards and old photographs and integrates them into her pieces. She and her sister conduct the Saturday Sisters Art Workshops in Charlotte. Sheila has a studio in the Charlotte Art League and her work can also be viewed at the Green Rice Gallery in Noda.
